The study of dance is that of an art form. Because of its artistic potential, dance is very difficult to be examined or assessed.

However, the examination and assessment course enhance the status of the subject within the curriculum. The current research is an attempt to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the dance examination system including method validity and appropriate assessment criteria. Suggestions on dance syllabi, the professional dancers' beliefs and ways of development are highlighted.
